Most children show appreciation for their parents during this holiday season by buying them something nice. However, dads are a notoriously difficult group to shop for. From a brief survey conducted at J-DHS, 18 out of 25 students did not know what they were going to get their dad for Christmas. Here are some ideas from some Jamesville Dewitt High School students for what to get your dad this season.
If your dad is a major sports fan, you could consider buying some merch from their favorite team or even tickets to a game. Senior Danielle Patterson says her dad is a huge Cowboys fan so she is thinking about getting him tickets or Cowboys gear. Junior Sam Wheeler says her dad likes to watch sports games during this time of the year. She plans to give him rechargeable hand warmers so he can stay warm while supporting her brother Bryce Wheeler during his football games. She also said she wants to get him a “Callaway golf pullover with a hood” because he is a big golfer.
You also can’t go wrong with some nice new clothes. Sophomore Ella Parker is excited to gift her dad a new black puffer jacket. Senior Capri Montanaro says her father likes her hoodies from Hollister so she is going to get him his own. Sophomore Sage Kennedy plans to get her dad a t-shirt, saying he “doesn’t need anything expensive” because he doesn’t find joy in luxury items.
You can always go with the essentials. Freshman Angie Louis bought her dad a wallet this Christmas because she thinks he needs a new one. Senior William Hunter is getting his dad either a football or a mug because he “couldn’t think of anything better”.
Though it can be stressful to find the perfect gift for your dad, he will love whatever you end up giving him. As long as the gift isn’t a mug and comes from the heart, you are guaranteed a wonderful experience when your dad unwraps his present this year. So don’t forget to leave a little something from under that tree for your parents because they deserve gifts too!
