Movements Through Music is a student-founded performance group created by Jamesville-DeWitt students Elena Fitzgerald, Kira Pawletko, and May Dolphin. The talented group of students from across CNY will be performing a Broadway-inspired virtual concert, including music they arranged themselves, played and sung by students.
You can watch the concert on their website starting Friday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m. until Monday, March 8th at 9:00 p.m. Click here to RSVP on their website to show your interest.
The theme of the concert is Women in Broadway, showcasing songs such as “Times Are Hard For Dreamers” from Amelie, “Satisfied” from Hamilton, and “Breathe” from In the Heights, as well as many other female-led songs in honor of International Women’s Day.
The concert is free to attend, but donations are highly encouraged. The donations will go to the National Organization for Women and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. The National Organization for Women supports a variety of women’s rights issues ranging from racial justice to reproductive rights. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids helps men, women, and children across the country gain access to medication while also helping Broadway actors in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to their website, they chose to celebrate International Women’s Day because of the importance of gender equality and the fight for women’s rights.
The concert is an accumulation of students’ hard work in both arranging the music and learning the songs, and allows them to join together virtually to make music and support a great cause.
