Eight Jamesville-DeWitt student-athletes representing five different Red Rams sports teams signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, November 13th. J-D athletes will be competing in all three divisions of college athletics, and over half are going to Division I programs.
Girls Soccer: Katie Cappelletti and Grace Dimkopoulos, members of the girls soccer team, committed to St. Joseph’s University and Siena College. Before signing her letter, Cappelletti said, “Signing my National Letter of Intent is just really exciting for me. It makes it feel a lot more real.”
Girls Basketball: Gabby Stickle, a member of the girls basketball team, will play for the University of New Haven. “It’s a great relief to be able to sign this letter of intent because now it’s locked in that I’m going there (to New Haven), and I’m looking forward to playing there.”
Girls Lacrosse: Riley LaTray and Isabella Ferlenda, members of the girls lacrosse team, signed their letters of intent to play at Niagara University and LeMoyne College. On her expectations for LaTray, J-D girls lacrosse coach Stephanie Rice said, “I think she’ll do very well. She has great size, she has great speed, and she’s athletic. I’m excited to see what she does in college.”
Boys Lacrosse: Joshua Duby and Connor Durkin, members of the boys lacrosse teams, will both play for Hobart College. Lacrosse is the only Division I sport at Hobart, where Duby and Durkin will continue to be teammates.
Girls Volleyball: Alexis LeClair, a member of the girls volleyball team, is headed to Fairfield University. “I chose Fairfield because the coaches gave me a really good opportunity, and I loved the campus as soon as I got there. All the girls on the team are really nice.”
