Summer Brings Great Opportunities

Are you interested in giving back to your community? Earning volunteer credit for National Honor Society or Government class? The Community Library of DeWitt and Jamesville (CLD&J) is looking for teens who are interested in helping with our Summer Reading Program (SRP). Volunteers will be asked to assist with preparing materials for our programs including Grab and Go kits and to staff the Summer Reading Desk on our front patio from Monday, June 28 until Saturday, August 21.

Weather permitting, the desk will be available during our patio pickup hours weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Teens volunteering to help at the Summer Reading desk will be asked to log visitors and hand out the weekly prizes. Volunteers will have a set schedule of one or two shifts each week.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please fill out our Teen Volunteer Interest Form (https://cldandj.org/Files/TeenVolunteer.pdf) and return it to Nan, our Young Adult Librarian, by mail or send a scanned copy by email to nbrown@cldandj.org by May 31. If you have questions about our teen volunteer program please email Nan or call her at the library at 315-446-3578.

Hi I'm Theresa, a staff writer at Jamesville-Dewitt. After school I run indoor track in the winter, and play lacrosse all year long. In school my favorite subject is Spanish. Some topics I'm interested in writing about are current events and sports.
