NYSPHSAA announced on Monday that there will no longer be any state championship for spring sports. There is still a possibility that regular season competitions will be held.

The future of what remains of the regular season depends on whether or not schools open back up. Sports can only begin again once school is back in session.

The decision was “difficult for the membership of NYSPHSAA” according to Executive Director Dr. Robert Zayas.

The decision on whether or not to reopen schools for the remainder of this school year will likely be made in the upcoming weeks.
