J-DHS Drama Club Prepares for Their Next Show

This spring, the Jamesville-DeWitt High School Drama Club is organizing a student-produced short play festival, and is looking for any student interested in being involved in any way, especially acting.

The plays will be student-written, student-directed, and performed by students, and it will be produced fully online, so both hybrid and in-person students will be able to be involved. In these plays, anyone of any experience level can participate, and directors will be able to have full control over what they want their play to look like, adding more diversity to each play.

Last year, the J-DHS Drama Club performed a play entitled No Exodus, written and directed by Alethea Shirilan-Howlett (’20). The members of the club performed the play on their own remotely. Producing this play really taught the students how to work hard via Zoom during the pandemic. It also proved that the students could write, direct, and perform plays successfully. So, this year, the Drama Club is looking to show off student talent once again, this time with even more experience under their belt.

Since many students have responded wanting to submit and/or direct a play, the Drama Club is in search of more actors. If you are interested in performing in one or more of the plays, fill out this Google Form by Sunday, April 4 at midnight.
