For the 11th year in a row, the Jamesville-DeWitt girls soccer team has won the Class A sectional championship. The Red Rams took down the Central Square Redhawks 3-0 on Friday, November 1 at SUNY Cortland. Now, for the 11th year in a row, J-D will have a shot at winning the State Championship.

This was the third meeting between the two teams. J-D won the first matchup, but was upset by Central Square in a 3-2 overtime loss in late September.

The Red Rams, with revenge on their minds after an early-season loss to the Rehawks, dominated the game from start to finish. A quick goal from Denise Yaeger gave J-D an early lead. Sophomore Megan Baker added to the lead late in the first half with another score. Senior Grace Dimkopoulos closed out the game with a header to secure the win.

Jamesville-DeWitt, after a bye in the first round of the state playoffs, will play Mohonasen in the Regional Finals on Saturday, November 9th at Mechanicville High School at 12 pm. If they win, they will move on to the State Semifinals, and next, the State Finals. The full bracket can be found here.
