A Message From Junior Student Government Slate 1

Three slates of candidates are running for the junior class government for 2021-2022. The election will take place tomorrow, September 30 during homeroom. Here is a message from Slate 1:

Positions:

Presidents: Audrey Harkaway and Sean Rigdon

Vice Presidents: Macy Durkin and Gavin Botto

Secretary: Josh Hu

Treasurer: Ali Mobeen

Director of Communications: Caleigh Menendez

What things will your slate of officers do to spice up the school year and make it fun for the Class of 2023?

Our officers have numerous exciting fundraisers planned for our class that will not just raise money, but also be fun for everybody who takes part. We plan to do the famous AirPods raffle, the Krispy Kreme sale, bake sales, and other fundraisers like the Chipotle partnership, class-wide competitions, and other collaborations, like with the ASA (Asian Students Association). Our lineup of fundraisers should keep the juniors busy while we prepare the Junior Prom.

What is unique to your state that the other junior slates do not possess?

Slate 1 is the most balanced of all the slates running this year, and we have the best connections. Slate 1 has three experienced returning members: Audrey, Ali, and Gavin, who know what it takes to run a slate and how the system works. We also have four new eager members with diverse areas of expertise to make our slate well-rounded and inclusive of all groups of students. We have connections to many different clubs, many of which are willing to collaborate on fundraisers. The ASA, for example, hosts monthly fundraisers where they sell food from various Asian cultures, and their profits go towards nonprofit organizations to stop hate crimes. Josh and Ali, as president and vice president of the club, will help partner them with the junior class officers for a large fundraiser for our class.

Why should the Class of 2023 vote for Slate 1?

The Class of 2023 should vote for Slate 1 because we promise to deliver the best Junior Prom, and we have the plans and means to do so. We have plans for a class outreach program to make sure you are all involved with whatever fundraiser we have going on at the time, and through it we will also take your input for future activities. Every student will be involved in our success, and we will be able to celebrate together at the end of the year with a fantastic prom! Go J-D! Vote Slate 1!
