Two slates of candidates are running for the senior class government for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Elections will take place during school on June 10. The RamPage interviewed Slate 1 about its agenda for the next school year.
Who is running and what positions are they running for?
Our members are Mikey Meskos, Gracey Hobika, Ella Brann, Lily Butler, Kai Brutsaert, Ciera Patterson, and Luca Daino. This year, we are running without positions, and instead are part of one collective student council.
What makes your slate unique?
First of all, we are the first slate in our grade, and possibly the whole school, to run without positions. We felt it was necessary to honor the contributions that we’ve made as a team, and no member should be seen as higher than another just based on a title. Also, we are the same group of officers that served this past school year and we were very successful in raising money and running several fun events.
What are some of your plans for the school year?
Senior year is the culmination of all of our hard work, both in the classroom and as officers. Our plans include senior ball, homecoming t-shirts and activities, a class breakfast, a car wash, and several graduation events towards the end of senior year.
Why should people vote for your slate?
People should vote for us because it’s the same group of officers from last year, so we are responsible for all of the money raised from our various fundraisers that is now in the senior class fund. Also, we have a full year of experience working together, and this will help us get things started as soon as we are elected, and we all get along so great that it will keep us and the rest of our grade in good spirits during all of our events.
What will be your main goal as slate officers if you win?
Our main goal is to provide the Class of 2023 with a successful and fun senior year. We definitely haven’t had a typical high school experience, but now is the time to make up for it, and we’re going to do everything we can to make senior year unforgettable.
