The Jamesville-DeWitt Varsity Football season isn’t over yet. After their televised win against East Syracuse Minoa, the Red Rams head into sectionals as the eight seed. Senior captains Zach Goodson, Steven Baker, Kelvin Huynh, and Adam Honis are hopeful to keep their season going.
Winning this game bought them a trip to sectionals.
This past Friday, J-DHS squared off against ESM on the home turf. Honis put his team in the lead, scoring a touchdown with two minutes to go in the first quarter. Junior Evan Dougherty had a game changing play near the end of the fourth quarter, dodging four people and advancing his team to the five yard line. The scoreboard buzzed at the end of the game to a final score of Jamesville-DeWitt 28 and East Syracuse Minoa 20. The Red Rams were full of pride as they finished the regular season with a win. However, their journey isn’t over yet. Winning this game bought them a trip to sectionals.
The captains feel their challenging schedule has helped them become a stronger team overall. “I am pleased with the effort that we have gotten as a team and the mentality that we go in week in and week out and how hard we work,” said Baker.
Coach Eric Ormond believes the team chemistry is fantastic this year and has brought out the best in the players.

The team has suffered their fair share of bad luck this year. Seniors Nick Brotzki, Carter Kowalczyk and Nick Abbott were injured this season along with Goodson out for two weeks, challenging the players to work even harder through their games.
Top scorers this season include seniors Kaleb McCloud and Pat Murad both with 18 points. Huynh averages a total of six points per game, with McCloud in a close second averaging three.
The football team is set to play away on Oct. 19 against Carthage.
