The annual Dig Pink girls volleyball game took place Saturday, October 19 against Fowler High School. “The game went well, we came into the game ready to win,” said coach Andrea Heil. Heil is the Girls Varsity Head Volleyball Coach. They raised over $1,000 this year, which differs from other years. “ Last year we raised over $2,000,” said Kessler.
The Dig Pink volleyball game is a fundraiser for breast cancer. Many schools in the area also participate in this annual fundraiser to show awareness because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For this year, the girls varsity volleyball team got brand new pink jerseys and decorated the gym with balloons and streamers.
The girls varsity volleyball team’s current record is 9-6 with one game left in the regular season. “The season is going well. We had our ups and downs, but we always have fun,” said Senior Captain Lyla Commandeur. “Good so far but rough patches through practices, but I love the team at games,” said sophomore Quinn Pfister. “We hope to peak soon, before sectionals,” said Senior Captain Merris Kessler. The team hopes to go far in regionals.
