Many athletes dream of playing their favorite sports in college. For six stellar athletes at Jamesville-DeWitt High School, this dream has become a reality. These senior athletes have signed commitment letters to six different colleges across the country.
Since sophomore year, Ana Dieroff, has been committed to Yale University for Women’s Lacrosse. With all her hard work and dedication, she was able to finally be officially committed. “It feels good for it to finally be official,” said Dieroff. Over her past four years on the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team she has scored 122 points, 101 of those points being goals.
Sophia Vinciguerra has signed for Siena College for cross country/track. “I’m really excited to start my new journey there… I choose Siena for so many different reasons,” said Vinciguerra. Over the course of her J-D career, she has had impressive running times and was also The Byrne Dairy and Deli NewsChannel 9 Athlete of the Week earlier this year for her outstanding leadership and performances.
Shayna Myshrall signed to Niagara University for Women’s Softball. Myshrall has been playing the sport for many years including the four years she played on the J-DHS Varsity Girls Softball team, joining as an eighth grader. Myshrall stated how Niagara catered to her needs. “I feel like the education and sports components combination really worked for me,” said Myshrall.
Pat Murad has chose to further his education and athletic career at Binghamton University. “It feels good that I don’t have to worry about the college process anymore,” said Murad, who has signed to play on the Men’s Lacrosse team. Murad has been on the varsity team at J-DHS since he was a freshman, and has scored 18 goals and had 18 assists for the team in his past three seasons.
Lindsay MacLachlan has signed to Wagner College for Women’s Lacrosse. “It’s always been my goal to play lacrosse in college and it feels good to finally achieve it,” MacLachlan said. She also went on to state how she has always wanted a city lifestyle and Wagner has that. MacLachlan has had 125 points in her career playing for the J-DHS Girls Lacrosse team.
Nolan Giblin has officially committed to Mercy College for baseball. “Once I got into high school I made a decision that I wanted to play in college,” Giblin said. “I’ve always played since I was younger.” Giblin’s average for the Red Rams last year was .352 and he has been on the Varsity Boys Baseball team since his sophomore year.
These athletes have spent years working as hard as they could whether it was on the pitch, the course or the field. In just a few months, they will be working hard and fulfilling their dreams at the collegiate level.
