With a combination of students from both Jamesville-Dewitt and Fayetteville-Manlius, the girls varsity gymnastics team, The Rammets, sets goals every practice and meet day to ensure another successful season.

Without the seniors who graduated in 2018, the team dynamic has changed and the current seniors have big shoes to fill. Head Coach Fishkin said that Taylor Fishkin, Rylee Fishkin and Zoe Potamianos have stepped up to become the top scorers so far this season.

The Rammets have a 2-1 record, defeating East Syracuse Minoa/Liverpool and Central Square. They lost a close meet with their biggest rival, New Hartford with a final score of 144.35 to 139.2. The Rammets have won the past 17 Sectionals in a row and are striving for number 18.

Senior Captain Ana Dieroff is confident the team will win Sectionals again. She motivates and helps any teammate who feels down or doubtful.  Coach Fishkin explained her confident expectations for the team this season by saying, “We’re going to win Sectionals, of course.”. The team works hard and practices five days a week for two hours each day. Dieroff says, “The team works very well together and it benefits us to be combined.” To bond with each other, the team has “Working Together Wednesdays” and pasta dinners. They also play games to strengthen this bond, such as scavenger hunts.

The next Girls Varsity Gymnastics home meet will be on October 10 at 5 p.m at CNY Gym Centre in Shoppingtown Mall. Everyone is encouraged to attend and cheer on the Rammets as they continue to work hard and strive to win their 18th sectionals championship.
