On Sunday, J-DHS seniors packed the East Syracuse DoubleTree hotel for the annual Senior Ball. Set up by the senior class officers, the Ball included photos at the Drumlins Country Club and a dance from 7:00-11:00 at the DoubleTree.
After the photos at Drumlins, J-D seniors traveled to the DoubleTree for dinner and dessert, soon followed by dancing. The Prom King and Queen were announced as Avery Porch and Kate Wilcox (yes, they were called the Prom King and Queen even though it was the Ball). The night concluded with the Ball afterparty at the AMF Strike N Spare bowling lanes in Mattydale. The event ultimately concluded at the late hour of 2:30 A.M., when the exhausted yet satisfied seniors returned home in their rented limousines – or in normal cars.
According to science teacher and senior class adviser Michael Keenan, “The Ball was a great success. Everyone had a fantastic time. We had 194 J-D seniors attend and over 50 guests. The members of the senior class have been raising funds for 4 years for this and other senior events.”
Seniors had a memorable time at the event as well. Senior Kate Barclay remarks, “It was really amazing the lengths the staff and parents went to give us a memorable night. I had a complete blast. It was so fun!”
“I had a great time at Ball! It was really cool to be able to eat and dance at DoubleTree with most of our grade. By far, the best part about the dinner that was served was the croutons. The music kept pumping the whole night and the dance floor was rarely empty. 22/10 experience in my opinion,” says senior Kasia Kirnie.
“Senior Ball was so much fun, it was so great to see everyone again,” states senior Elizabeth Smith.
Senior Michael DiBiase, who attended the Ball in a sunset-themed tuxedo, enjoyed the dance. “[Ball] was great! Once the music got going everyone was just having a great time on the dance floor!”
