The JD-CBA boys swimming and diving team opened up the crazy 2021 season on the right foot. The Red Rams beat out the Baldwinsville Bees 91-81.
Some didn’t even think winter sports would be possible this year, but boys swimming is the one sport Jamesville-DeWitt offers that got the green light, albeit with plenty of precautions to ensure a smooth sailing season.
Coming into the game, the Red Rams were looking to avenge their 98-85 loss to the Bees last season. Thanks to their depth, they were able to do just that.
JD-CBA had the winning swimmer or team in seven out of the ten events. Two athletes, senior Nathan Chen and sophomore Nathaniel Wales, each grabbed top placements in three events. The times and placements for each event are here.
Now, the Red Rams are 1-0 going into what will be a tough matchup with C-NS on Saturday, January 23rd at noon. The meet will be broadcasted by Jamesville-DeWitt students and staff, with the help of Syracuse University student Sam Gelfand, on YouTube.
J-D has been broadcasting more and more of their sports recently. Last year, volleyball matches and basketball games were able to be streamed. This fall, soccer was added to the mix. Now, swimming is the latest addition to Red Rams sports that you can watch from the comfort of your own home.
Since no in-person fans are allowed at swim meets this year, watching the Red Rams online is a great way to support the team!
