The Jamesville-DeWitt boys soccer team took down Oswego 6-0 on Tuesday night. Entering the game with a 2-2 season record, the Red Rams certainly needed a strong performance to get back on track. Led by a career performance by junior Max MacCaull, who had two goals and an assist, J-D had just the game they needed.
After a slow start to the match from both teams, the Rams’ offense went on fire towards the end of the first half. T.J. Tanner struck first, with a goal on a wide open net, thanks in large part to the assist by junior Jake Mone. Only a few minutes later, senior Thomas Sabatino had a beautiful cross pass that was finished by MacCaull. To close out the half, MacCaull added an assist, which was directed into the goal by senior and captain Will Quackenbush.
Jamesville-DeWitt didn’t start out the second half slow. On a Red Rams corner kick, the Buccaneers keeper had a quick save, but senior and captain John Keib immediately shot the ball into the back of the net.
As the second half progressed, it seemed like J-D was starting to hold back. However, the game was blown open for good when junior Aiden Scott rebounded a free kick and knocked the ball over the goalie’s fingertips as he fell away from the net.
MacCaull made sure to end the night on a high note. With just a few minutes left in the game, senior and captain Andrej Dovciak flipped up a pass that MacCaull firmly headed into the goal.
When the final whistle blew, it was clear who the better squad on the field was that night. From start to finish, the Red Rams dominated on both ends of the field. They kept the ball out of their territory, and made use of their time with the ball.
Now with another win under their belts, J-D will travel to East Syracuse-Minoa on Thursday to take on the Spartans.
