Last Saturday, the last of the remaining J-D fall sports saw the close to its season. The boys volleyball team made it to the state championship, after winning regionals the week before. The Rams won their pool in states in a round robin tournament to send them to the championship, where they would lose in three sets. The team didn’t leave Albany with the state champions trophy they had hoped they would receive, but that takes nothing away from this teams historic run.
The boys volleyball team’s year was nothing short of magnificent. This year’s team brought many accolades to the struggling program who hadn’t won a section title in what seems like forever. For the first time in school history, they defeated Oswego, F-M, and Baldwinsville in the regular season. This J-D team was also the first to win a league title, win a true sectional title (previous sectional titles were won in much worse leagues), win a regional title, and advance to the state championship. The Rams were also the first team in section three history to make the state championship.
This memorable season for the boys volleyball team will go down as the most accomplished volleyball team in school history to date, and will most certainly never be forgotten.
