There is a new trivia app available for smartphones and tablets that has taken over Jamesville-DeWitt High School. The game allows you to play against friends to determine who has the most trivia knowledge, or who is best at guessing answers. “Trivia Crack” offers six categories of trivia including science, art, entertainment, geography, sports, and history. Of 30 students interviewed, 11 agreed that entertainment was their best category and 14 agreed that art was the most difficult.
“I love the thrill of beating my friends,” said freshman Nico Modesti. Sophomore Jack Mulvihill agreed and added, “it’s so fun and addicting.” The week following Thanksgiving Break, the majority of J-DHS students downloaded “Trivia Crack” onto their smartphones. “Everyone has it so I was like, why not?” said senior Riley Foti, who claims to be addicted to the game..
After Thanksgiving break, students quickly began challenging each other both during the school day and at home. But soon students lost interest in “Trivia Crack.” Senior Tyler Lichtenstein said that not many people play the game anymore. “It was a fad and then it just died off,” said Lichtenstein.
Fads like this come and go frequently, such as the game “Flappy Bird,” which was popular during January of 2014, along with games like “Temple Run,” “Bike Race,” “2048,” and the “Kim Kardashian” game. Who knows what will come next?
